Position: Software Design Engineer
Location: Cheltenham
Salary: to £50K ( dependant on Experiemce)
Our Client a Global Manufacturer are currently seeking to recruit an Embedded Software Engineer to provide software development in the Machine Tool Division. Reporting to the division’s Embedded Software Quality Representative, the primary focus of the role will be to develop and maintain the real time embedded software for the machine tool products. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to improve their real time embedded system skills applied to the metrology engineering domain.
The key outputs and deliverables:
• To work as part of the MTP Division’s current products team
• To develop new embedded software, maintain software in existing products and develop for associated production equipment
• To take part in design discussions with various electronic and mechanical hardware design teams
• Liaising with the Division’s marketing, subsidiaries and applications departments regarding the product’s behaviour and any issues raised
• To write design documentation of a high standard
• To specify, perform and document software testing
• Peer reviewing of code and documentation produced by the division’s engineers
Key requirements:
All applicants are required to have the following:
• Experience in real time embedded system design and implementation
• Working knowledge of microcontrollers such as Microchip PICs, Atmel AVRs, 8051 etc.
• Practice in writing software using the C programming language and assembler
• A good understanding of electronics
• The ability to estimate development timescales and produce high quality design documentation
Person specification:
The successful applicant will be a clear thinker who enjoys creating well thought out software designs, documenting them, and then implementing them in clearly readable code. The individual in this role must have a strong attention to detail and capable of demonstrating good verbal and written communication skills.
